Willis Toys Ltd

Willis Toys Ltd is a British Toy Company which has been trading for over 50 years and continues to trade in wooden jigsaws to this day. Unsurprisingly the puzzles in the collection however are no longer part of their output and were likely discontinued sometime in the late 1960’s/early 70’s. The set of puzzles that follows are all designed by Caroline Ford who also produced designs for Abbatt Toys, and previously was designing puzzles in the 60’s for W.R. Kelly prior to them becoming Willis Toys, and are all exceptionally hard to find, primarily on account of the absence of any long lasting branding on the puzzles and also as a result of scarcity. The Willis Toys branding on these puzzles was simply a paper sticker on the back of the puzzles, I can vouch for the fact that many of these labels came adrift and it’s often no longer possible for sellers of these puzzles to be able to identify the brand, as a consequence if these puzzles are listed for sale they are usually in the category of ‘vintage puzzle’ which is a fairly broad starting point for any search for them! This set is almost complete after two decades of searching, with just two puzzles left to find; the coffee pot and the scooter.
