Tiger Toys
Tiger Toys (Petersfield) were a toy manufacturer from 1959 until it went into liquidation in 1978. It was owned by Rob and Sheila Hurst who operated their toy business from a converted mill in Rogate where they produced an array of wooden toys. Very little is known about the company and whilst we have seen a catalogue of theirs dated 1978/9, it gives little away about the company or those behind the designs of the toys. Again, the use of sticky labels to identify the branding on the puzzles (as with Willis Toys) has left collectors 50 years down the line with a problem as the labels have invariably parted company with the toys upon which they were placed. In the early days of the company however, ‘Tiger Toys Made In England’ was painted directly onto the puzzle thus preserving the heritage of some of their output.
